Central bank says to pilot e-ruble deals with 13 banks on Apr 1

YEKATERINBURG, Feb 17 (PRIME) -- The Russian central bank will launch a digital ruble pilot with 13 banks on real transactions of individuals on April 1, First Deputy Chairwoman Olga Skorobogatova told reporters on Friday.

“We are going to launch the digital ruble project in a pilot stage from April 1 first with transactions – remittances between individuals and payments at retail and servicing firms,” Skorobogatova said.

“I would underline straight away that the pilot will be done with real deals and real clients, but on a limited number of transactions and with a limited number of clients with 13 banks that have already confirmed their readiness technically.”
